Police arrest suspected killers of US-bound doctor and his friend in Abuja

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested the prime suspect in the gruesome murder of 37-year-old medical doctor, Obisike Donald Ibe and his friend, Ezekiel Edoja, 31.

The late Ibe, a Radiologist who worked at Zenith Lab and Kidney Centre, and Edoja, were brutally murdered in Ibe’s residence at Games Village area of the Federal Capital on Wednesday, December 15.

The doctor had perfected plans to relocate to the United States of America when the incident happened.

The FCT Police Commissioner, Babaji Sunday, announced the arrest of the suspects who killed the doctor in Abuja on Tuesday, January 17, during the first press briefing of the year.

According to the police boss, after an aggressive manhunt and in the midst of painstaking investigations, Abdulsalam Ibrahim, as well as his accomplices, was arrested.

“The FCT Police Command since the receipt of the information of the Games Village murders deposited the corpse at the morgue and embarked on an aggressive manhunt in the midst of pain-staking investigations,” he stated.

“The perpetrators of the dastardly act also carted away a vehicle and an envelope containing about $1,000, the mobile phone of the deceased doctor and the ATM card which was used to withdraw money to the tune of two million naira from the deceased’s account on 13 December 2021,”

“Following the above, 3 suspects namely Abdusalam Ibrahim aged 26, Fidelis Ezekiel aged 27 and Philemon Hussaini aged 22, have been arrested in connection (with) the case.

“The suspects upon interrogation confessed to have plotted and committed the offence. The suspects will be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation.”
