A Nigerian woman based in the United States of America has cried out after being allegedly assaulted by an immigration officer at the Passport Office in Ikeja, Lagos.
The incident happened on Monday, January 10, 2022 while the woman and her daughter were trying to renew their passports.
Narrating her ordeal in a video sent to MSN, the woman said she was at the passport office together with her daughter till about 6pm when it was their turn to enter.
An officer, identified as Ogbeifun, reportedly stopped them from joining the batch being taken inside because according to him, her daughter was not properly dressed.
She said she protested that the girl’s entire body was covered in the jumpsuit that she wore.
She said the officer said her daughter was not wearing a bra underneath the jumpsuit and therefore could not enter.
At that point, the woman said she brought out her phone to record and asked the man to tell her where it was written in the constitution that you had to wear a bra under your cloth to be eligible for passport renewal.
The action apparently infuriated the officer as she accused him of getting hold of her hand and twisting it behind her.
She showed the injury she sustained in the encounter.
She is calling for justice.
