Nigerians drag Kemi Olunloyo for claiming Sylvester Oromoni agreed to join gang, drink diesel oil (Video)
Self-acclaimed journalist, Kemi Olunloyo, is being attacked online for a series of claims she made about the Dowen College student, Sylvester Omoroni, who lost his life after being allegedly tortured by his senior schoolmates.
In a Twitter Space she hosted on December 9, Olunloyo claimed to have some information from the inside sources in the ongoing investigations into the death of the 12-year-old boy.
She claimed Sylvester was willing to join the cult, agreed to be beaten and also accepted to drink engine oil (apparently as part of the initiation into the gang).
Olunloyo alleged that Sylvester willingly told the guys initiating him that he had seen his sister’s private parts.
The controversial celebrity compared boarding schools to Big Brother Naija where people form cliques after some weeks of living in a confined space with the same limited number of people.
Olunloyo’s claims have attracted a barrage of attacks on her from different quarters. Many alleged that she was doing a hatchet job for the accused persons. Some called for her arrest so she could tell the investigators what she knows.
One of her critics, who goes by the moniker ‘Youngbreeze’ said: “Make this woman no make me hate her oooooo. I Know say money don exchange hands. Na why she come here dey (talk) anyhow….I respect and believe most of her news but make she no use because of money come fall her hands ooo. (Meaning: Let this woman not make me hate her. I know that money has exchanged hands. That’s why she is talking like this. I respect and believe most of her news, but let her not allow filthy lucre to rubbish her good works)
Tifesingz wrote: “The shamelessness of this woman! Always finding counterpoints to all situations just to stay relevant! It’s a pity!!”
Tuoyo Ojo said: “This is totally insensitive, to say the least. Did (the) boy (confirm this to her before he died?) She craves the spotlight and would say just about anything to get there.
Chummynoni(m): “It is easier to lie on the dead. This woman is not in any way an investigative journalist. She is saying what the foolish boys involved told her. Let us even assume that the boy consented, does that in any way cancel the fact that the boy was murdered?”
Olunloyo had some supporters, like Toks2008, who said: “You guys are just too sentimental for my liking. You see this lady ehn, i have learned never to discard whatever she says even if it sounds foolish. I am not saying she is right or wrong but we must understand that ”mad” people in many instances are usually right about what they see or say.”
