Dark liquid found in the stomach of Dowen student allegedly tortured to death by mates (Video)

The preliminary autopsy carried out on the boy allegedly tortured to death by fellow students of Dowen College in Lagos has reportedly revealed some dark liquid in the stomach of the deceased.

This was disclosed by the father of the boy in an interview with the Punch via Zoom.

According to Mr. Sylvester Oromoni, someone who was in the room with the pathologist carrying out the autopsy disclosed this information to him.

The nature of the substance could not be determined at this stage, according to Mr. Oromoni. He said a sample of the substance had been taken and the police promised to send it to Lagos where they have the facility to analyse it.

Before the boy died, he allegedly confessed that he was given something to drink.

Mr. Sylvester Oromoni, who was flanked by two of his older daughters said the deceased son was his last child.

“His birthday is tomorrow. He is going to be 12 years tomorrow. He was born on the fourth of December, 2009. He was born through CS, out of 11 and he was the last. I sent four of them to that school (Dowen). The rest went to Igbinedion and other schools.

Mr. Oromoni said it was actually a nurse at the school’s sickbay that called the family to report that the boy was ill and needed to be taken home for proper treatment.

“It was late on Monday when they called. So the next day, we got someone to go and carry him. Then we called Mr. Ahmed, and asked him what happened. He said Sly Oromoni said he fell while playing football.

“The boy who went to pick him on Tuesday said this one is beyond football; that any part of his body that you touched was painful to the boy. And he would open his mouth and be pointing finger there. The mouth started having signs of peeling.”

He said that was how the family entered the trouble.

“In the night, no one could sleep. We had to carry him to the toilet. He would say touch here. My back, my chest,

He said they had had reason to suspect the boy was being bullied before.

“We have been experiencing a lot of things before this incident. If you gave this boy N50,000 provision, it doesn’t take him one week to finish it. But he would refuse to talk what is happening to his provision. His clothes, his money. We now started giving the provision and money to the housemaster, one Mr. Ahmed.

The father also recalled that in October, he had to settle a matter between the boy and his older sister when they came home.

The sister reportedly reported to the father that her mate said Sylvester told him that he had seen her nakedness.

Mr. Oromoni said when the boy was questioned, he said older boys in his room cornered him and asked him if he had seen his sister’s nakedness before and when he answered in the negative, they gave him a beating until he claimed to them that he had actually seen his sister naked before.

The older sister of the dead boy also told Punch that she reported three of the bullies to the school management and she insisted on them being suspended but in the end, nothing was done to the boys.
