A son of the late veteran actor, Babatunde Omidina, Akanni Sherif Omidina, has spoken of the years he grew up watching the actor on the screen without knowing he was his father.
Akanni, a medical doctor, spoke at the burial of the legendary actor in his residence at Ikorodu.
In an interview with journalists, Akanni said his story was quite peculiar because his father was all the while before him, but he never knew it because his mother never revealed his identity to him.
“My story is peculiar because my father is there and my mother knows him, and I’m busy looking for my father, going to places…It’s not easy,” he said.
The young man, however, said the experience had taught him more about life and given him a sense of direction as to how he intends to build his family.
Sherif said it’s painful that he never grew up with the actor but only got to watch him on TV without knowing that he (Baba Suwe) was his father.
He said without knowing the actor as his father, he developed deep love for him was a dedicated fan of his works.
Sharing further, Sherif said he finally met Baba Suwe before his demise and he was embraced with open arms by the family members.
