EPL: Manchester United sacks manager, Solskjaer,

ManU identifies Zinadine Zidane as new coach

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Manchester United have officially sacked their Manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Michael Carrick was named as the person to take charge of the team for forthcoming games.

The Times later reported that the club leadership had identified Zinedine Zidane as Ole’s replacement.

The Red Devils issued a statement sacking Ole via their website on Sunday morning, less than 24 hours after their Premier League 4-1 loss to Watford on Saturday.

The statement read in part, “Manchester United announces that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has left his role as Manager.

“Ole will always be a legend at Manchester United and it’s with regret that we have reached this difficult decision.

Following the sacking of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on Sunday, Manchester United have identified Zinedine Zidane as their preferred choice to succeed the Norwegian, according to The Times.

The United board had decided against sacking the 48-year-old Ole after the club was thrashed by Leicester City Manchester City and Liverpool, giving him more time partly because of lack of available, suitable replacements.

The club’s hierarchy has now identified Zidane, who is currently the best available option, with the Frenchman out of work since leaving Real Madrid.

The 49-year-old had wanted to take at least a year out of the game and his family have concerns about him returning to management so soon.

However, the newspaper claim that United’s board will now speed up conversations with the Frenchman.
