Reprieve has come for the Enogie of Uroho Community of Edo State, Ogieriakhi, as the autopsy carried out on the corpse of one Faith Aigbe, who was found dead in the Enogie’s car in September 10, exonerated the traditional ruler of any complicity in the death of the eight-month pregnant woman.
The Edo State Police Command on Wednesday released the autopsy of the late Aigbe, whose corpse was allegedly abandoned in the Toyota Lexus 330, belonging to Enogie Ogieriakhi, at the premises of the Edo Specialist Hospital.
While the Enogie handed himself over to the police, claiming that the late Aigbe, his girlfriend, was eight months pregnant but was forced to abort the pregnancy by her relations, who were opposed to the relationship, Aigbe’s family members denied that their daughter was ever pregnant, but was murdered by the Enogie.
The Edo Police Command immediately arrested the Enogie and had him detained, while the Command called for an autopsy to determine the actual cause of death.
The Command’s spokesman, Bello Kontongs, in a statement said: “Today September 22, 2021, the Edo State Police Command wishes to inform the public that the autopsy of one Faith Aigbe who died in the house of his boyfriend, Enogie of Uroho, Iguodala Ogieriakhi.
“He was suspected to have killed his girlfriend who was eight months pregnant. But after a series of investigations and the autopsy from the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH) has revealed the cause of death. (It was) signed by Dr. Wilson Akhiwu.
“The autopsy result reads: That the cause of death is Hemorrhage Shock, ruptured tubal Ectopic gestation with massive Hemoperitoneum. These are the things that the medical personnel said led to her death.
“So we are using this opportunity to let the public know the cause of the death.
“Based on this report, it shows that the Enogie may not have been culpable of the crime the family of the deceased accuse him of committing and the police will consider him for bail,” he added.
