A group of northern youths identified as Northern Youths Democratic Network (NYDN), has expressed support for the shutdown of telecommunication services in some areas in the North west.
Recall that some local governments in Zamfara, Katsina and lately Sokoto have been affected by the shutdown of telecom services in an ongoing effort to flush out bandits from the forests.
The President and Secretary of NYDN, Dauda Mathias and Yahaya Abdullahi, in a statement, believed that the ongoing military operation against insurgency and banditry in the North East and North West was the best way to end their activities in the country.
The statement observed that the shutdown of the telecommunications networks had prevented bandits from getting information on the movement of the military, thereby giving the military advantage over them.
The group urged the residents of the affected areas to see the development as a sacrifice to achieve everlasting peace and wipe out banditry and kidnapping.
