Video of Sunday attack on police checkpoint by gunmen at Onitsha emerges

A video clip of the moment armed men attacked a checkpoint in Onitsha, Anambra State, has surfaced online.

Three policemen lost their lives in the attack, while two others were injured.

The incident happened on 19 September 2021 at Ukaegbu Junction, Ezeiweka Awada Onitsha.

The video was recorded by a resident who kept repeating, ‘unknown gunmen attack police at Ezeiweka’ as he recorded from his hiding place.

The gunmen can be seen in the video footage prancing the street and shooting in the air. They were apparently only after security operatives as a passerby could be seen walking casually near the shootings.

The attackers later set ablaze a police patrol van.
