A Uber driver has dropped dead while giving a reverend sister a ride in Lagos.
The Uber driver, identified as Anthony Okafor, and driving a Toyota Camry with number plate EPE 869 GK, reportedly picked the woman from the Ikeja airport.
He was said to have started coughing and gasping for breath in the Egbeda area and had to stop the car by the road side.
According to the Punch, his condition reportedly worsened and he was rushed to a hospital for treatment.
“He was rushed to the Talent Hospital in Egbeda, Lagos State, where he was confirmed dead on Saturday, August 21, 2021,” the source said.
It was further learnt that no mark of violence was found on his body, which was deposited in the morgue of the Mainland General Hospital.
The incident was confirmed by the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Adekunle Ajisebutu.
Ajisebutu noted that the State Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, had ordered a post-mortem to ascertain the cause of death, saying, “The deceased suddenly fell sick while driving. He was immediately rushed to a hospital for medical attention but was confirmed dead at the hospital.
“Although it is a suspected case of sudden and unnatural death, the Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, has directed that a post-mortem should be carried out to determine the actual cause of death. The case is under investigation,” the police spokesperson said.
