There are fears over the safety of the officer abducted at the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), Kaduna in the early hours of Tuesday by armed bandits.
The military officer, Major Christopher Datong, was kidnapped by men who were reportedly dressed in military camouflage. They killed two other officers, identified as Lieutenant Commodore Wulah and Flight Lieutenant CM Okoronwo, instantly.
Some residents have reported sighting a dead body in the forest after the attack. There was no positive indication that this was the body of the abducted officer.
Official sources also said there was no evidence to believe that Major Datong had been killed.
Military authorities said efforts were ongoing to rescue the officer.
One of the photographs circulating on social media showed the officer with his pregnant wife.
