The leader of a four-man armed robbery gang who killed a Point of Sales operator in Ondo has confessed that he shot her because she was delaying giving them the money on her.
The gang members were apprehended by the Ondo State Police Command and paraded for robbing and killing six persons including two PoS operators and two Filling Station attendants in Akure, the state capital.
Speaking with newsmen during their parade by the police, 24-year-old, Banjo Adu, 24, said he killed Miss Adetutu Nofisat Ibrahim because the 28-year-old staff of First Bank refused to hand over her money on time.
The late Ms. Ibrahim met her untimely death in August 2019 at her Point-Of-Sale shop in the Oke Ogba area of Akure South.
“When my gang members and I got to the PoS shop of late Miss Adetutu, she refused to give us money on time and I pulled the trigger on her and I killed her after which we made away with her money,” he said.
Other members of the Adu’s gang who have also been arrested are Deji Ajayi, Babajide Adewole and Dare Adeoye.
The same gang in January 2020 robbed another PoS operator, Solomon Ehingbe at Owe-Akala area of Oke-Aro, Akure.
They killed Ehingbe during the operation and then raided a restaurant located around NEPA area of Akure from where they carted away the sum of N1,200,000 cash, being the proceeds from the day’s sales.
They also stole the handsets and other valuables of the customers they met at the restaurant.
Ondo State Police Commissioner, Mr. Bolaji Salami, disclosed that the robbers also killed two fuel attendants and stole N150,000.
Adu also admitted killing Ehingbe for the same reason of not bringing out the cash on time when they arrived at his shop.
“We went round to other places like Obioma restaurant and robbed her of N150,000. We also proceeded to Rano Filling Station and robbed them of their money. We were arrested through a CCTV Camera that was placed in one of the places we robbed. We never knew there was camera installed. As we left the place, we got to a PoS operator who did not give us money on time.” he added.
The commissioner said the suspects would soon be charged to court.
