A 28-year-old man, Bello Muhammed, has been arrested by men of the operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps for abducting and raping a minor.
The suspect was said to have committed the offence together with two other suspects currently at large at Ilale village, Oke-Ero in Irepodun council area of Kwara State.
The three allegedly conspired to abduct the 15-year-old girl who was on her way to fetch water. They dragged her into the bush, tied and raped her severally while she was in their custody.
The suspects contacted the victim’s family and demanded for a N15 million ransom.
The two other suspects now being sought are Umar Abubakar from Ajase lpo and one Babuga.
The spokesperson of Kwara’s command of the NSCDC, Babawale Afolabi, said the victim’s family paid a certain amount of money to the kidnappers before she was released.
Afolabi disclosed that luck ran out on Bello Muhammed, as he was arrested by local vigilantes at Kara Market, Ajase lpo and handed over to the operatives of the NSCDC.
“During the interrogation, Muhammed confessed to have committed the crime with his two accomplices who are still at large.”
