Princess tells court how she baited Baba Ijesa with ‘script conference’
Identifies two other suspects who harassed the minor
Comedienne-cum-actress, Damilola Adekoya aka Princess has narrated how she baited actor, Olanrewaju ‘Baba Ijesa’ Omiyinka before reportedly catching him allegedly molesting her minor foster daughter on CCTV.
She also identified two other suspects who allegedly sexually harassed her daughter.
Princess, who gave an eyewitness account in court on Tuesday, July 27 after a CCTV footage she submitted was admitted as evidence on Monday, July 28, said she invited Baba Ijesa to her house for a script conference after planting a CCTV.
She said: “The CCTV man, Mr. Brown set up the CCTV in the house. He owns a surveillance company. I don’t know the name, I only know Mr. Brown. I didn’t know the make of the CCTV camera used.
“Immediately I moved to the house, my landlord advised me to put a CCTV in the house, after asking for the price, I felt it was too high.
“Then on Monday 19th April 2021, I invited Baba Ijesa to my house for a script conference, which he did. Unknown to him there were CCTV planted in my house.”
When Princess was asked why she left the foster daughter with Baba Ijesa despite the prior allegation, she said:
“The initial plan was to confront him but in the process, I knew it could get violent, the installation was to capture if the scene would get violent.
“I did not believe he (Baba Ijesa) would repeat the same function now that she is grown.”
During cross-examination, Princess identified another two suspects who also allegedly sexually harassed her 14-year-old foster child.
The defence team led by Babatunde Ogala, SAN, confronted Princess with a report she had made at the police station accusing one of her neighbours Damola Adekola of sexually harassing her daughter.
The defence team also confronted Princess with an allegation she had made against her gateman accusing him of exposing himself indecently to her daughter.
When asked why the first suspect, Adekola was arrested by the police Princess confirmed that it was in connection with an allegation by her daughter that he had attempted to sexually harass her in December 2020.
She also affirmed that she did not formally report the matter to the police until April 20, 2021, a week after the arrest of Baba Ijesa.
When Babatunde asked why it took so long for her to report the case, she responded that she could not remember.
Journalists and members of the public inside the court were subsequently ordered out of the court to allow the victim who is a minor to give her testimony.
The trial will continue on August 11, 2021.
