Many passengers, including some highly-placed Nigerians, narrowly escaped death after an aircraft belonging to Air Peace crashed around 9.30am on Friday morning upon landing in Ilorin from Abuja.
The Nation reports that the tyre of the plane burst upon landing and the plane experienced a bang which sent the luggage in the overhead locker falling on passengers. It was gathered the plane could not taxi to the tarmac after the incident.
The authorities of the airport have subsequently closed the runway of the airport and cancelled all flights.
No official statements have been released from the Federal Aviation Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) and other aviation regulatory agencies.
