Zuma riots: Vigilantes catch policeman with looted goods in SA

As the violence that attended the imprisonment of former South African President, Jacob Zuma, spiraled out of control, residents of some affected areas have started defending themselves against looters and arsonists.

Roadblocks have been mounted in strategic locations by volunteer community members to prevent looters from making incursions.

The roadblocks also entailed stopping vehicles and searching them.

One of the first culprits caught last night according to News Live_508 update on Instagram was a member of the South African Police Service (SAPS) who had his official vehicle stuffed with looted items.

Stuffed in the boot and inside the vehicle were vegetable oil, electronics, tissue paper and other household items.

When interrogated, he had nothing to say.

Over 46 people have been killed and properties worth millions of dollars damaged in the violence that erupted after Mr. Zuma was sent to jail last week.
