Baptist school students’ abductors run out of food, NBC opposes ransom

The abductors of 121 students of the Bethel Baptist High School, Maraban Rido, Kaduna State have reportedly restated their demand for rice and other foodstuffs to feed the children.

A top official of the school, who is involved in the negotiation with the bandits, confided in the Punch that the hoodlums called again on Wednesday and stated that they had run out of food.

The bandits reportedly threatened to starve the students as they had no food to feed them.

The bandits are yet to make any demand for ransom, as they allegedly insisted that the foodstuff they requested for must be provided first before any negotiation could take place.

They had previously made the same demand on Tuesday during calls to the school management.

The bandits had struck in the early hours of Monday, invading the Bethel Baptist High School, Maraban Rido along Kaduna-Kachia road and abducting a total of 121 students.

A simultaneous attack on nearby Faith Academy, owned by Bishop David Oyedepo was successfully repelled by soldiers and school guards.

The Proprietor of the school and President of the Kaduna State Baptist Conference, Rev. Ishaya Jangado, on Tuesday told journalists that the bandits had contacted the school management and confirmed that they were holding 121 students.
