A food vendor whose food was poured away by Ebonyi State Commissioner for Capital Territory Development, Mr. Onyekachi Nwebonyi, has received cash donation from the senator representing Ebonyi Central Senatorial District, Senator Obinna Ogba.
Petty trader, Mrs. Ukpai broke down in tears on Monday when her coolers of food were allegedly flung away and her table and food cart overturned by Nwebonyi.
A video uploaded by Wisdom Nwedene on YouTube showed the woman bemoaning her fate and lamenting that the food destroyed was her only means of feeding her children.
Senator Ogba saw the video and sent his media aide, Godfrey Chikwere to donate cash to the lady and replace her phone which was stolen during the ugly incident.
Mr. Chikwere said arrangements were being made to get a permanent place for Mrs. Ukpai’s business.
The senator was quoted as saying, “while we are not supporting any effort in making the state capital indecent, public office holders should know that they are ruling over human beings and not animals in an animal kingdom. We must therefore learn how to use human face in handling human activities”.
The food vendor was full of appreciation for the senator for the gifts. She pleaded with Nigerians to help her get a place to stay permanently.
