Gunmen hit Sunday Igboho’s home, kill aides

Gunmen have attacked the residence of the Yoruba Nation agitator, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, aka Sunday Igboho,  killing yet uncertain number of aides.

The attack reportedly took place in the early hours of this morning, Thursday, 1 July, 2021.

The leader of Yoruba self-determination Groups, Ilana Omo Oodua, Professor Banji Akintoye, announced the attack this in a statement titled, ‘Yoruba Nation: Elements of the Nigerian Army, accompanied by international terrorists hired by the Nigerian State attacked Sunday Ighoho’s residence – Akintoye.’

The statement was made available to newsmen by Akintoye’s Communications Manager, Mr. Maxwell Adeleye.

Part of the statement said: “The assailants were all dressed in military uniform and spoke French language fluently.

“The gunmen killed seven occupants in the building and whisked Igboho’s wife and several others away.”

The claims could not be independently verified at the time of filing this report as the whereabouts of Igboho were unknown.

However, a video that has gone viral online showed extensive destruction of the properties of the Yoruba rights activist, including his posh cars parked within his premises.

The person behind the camera said the assailants killed some people and dragged their bodies out and took them away.

Bloody trails can be seen all the way from the bedroom to the entrance into the apartment.

The person doing the recording also claimed that the gunmen who were in military uniform had initially left before returning to check the ceiling for Sunday Igboho who they thought might be hiding there.

The clip shows parts of the ceiling allegedly broken by the assailants

Official reactions are still being awaited.
