Soludo secures landslide victory in Anambra APGA guber primary election

Prof. Charles Soludo

Charles Soludo, former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), has won the Anambra governorship primary election of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

The total number of accredited delegates who participated in the election was 795 while 792 votes were cast.

Soludo secured 740 votes to defeat Ezenwankwo Christopher who polled 41 votes, ThankGod Ibe who had 4 votes, and Okolo Chibuzor who got seven votes.

He will represent the party in the governorship election scheduled to hold on November 6.

The primary election took place on Wednesday in Awka, Anambra State capital.

Willie Obiano, Anambra State governor, and other stakeholders of the party were present at the event.

It would be recalled that the national working committee of a faction of the party led by Jude Okeke announced the suspension of Soludo from the party when the primary exercise was already in full gear.

Ikechukwu Chukwunyere, the national publicity secretary of the faction, said Soludo was suspended due to activities threatening the unity of the party.
