The Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Command, CP Mohammed Ndatsu Aliyu, psc, has ordered the manhunt of some armed bandits who shot dead an unidentified man driving in a Mercedes Benz SUV, which they carted away, along Ebeano Tunnel, Enugu on Sunday, May 30, at about 5pm.
A statement released by the spokesperson of the state police command, ASP Daniel Ndukwe, said the victim, whose true identify is yet to be known, was rushed to the hospital, where he was confirmed dead by doctors on duty and deposited in the mortuary for autopsy.
A video circulating online shows the armed men pulling the man from his SUV and then shooting him dead, leaving him on the road and carting away with his ride.
Ndukwe said the state Commissioner of police has vowed that no stone would be left unturned in fishing out perpetrators of the heinous crime. The police boss has also called on residents of the state to remain law-abiding, vigilant and assist the Police with useful information that will lead to the arrest and prosecution of the assailants.
Emmy Siasia tweeting under the handle @ECOnuoha said: “It appears that this is Justice Stanley Nnaji. He was a Judge of the Enugu State High Court, until he was dismissed following his role in the removal of a sitting Governor of Anambra State in 2007. May the soul of the dead Rest In Peace”.
This could not be independently confirmed at the time of filing this report.
