FG declares Monday work-free for armed forces in honour of late COAS
President Muhammadu Buhari has declared today, Monday, May 24, 2021 work-free for members of the armed forces in honour of the departed military officers including the late Chief of Army Staff, Ibrahim Attahiru.
This was contained in a press statement issued by the Secretary of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, and despatched to the media on Sunday night.
The press statement further revealed that the national flag would fly at Half Mast in honour of the late COAS and others that died in a plane crash in Kaduna on Friday, May 21st.
The statement read: “His Excellency, Muhammadu Buhari President, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Federal Republic of Nigeria has authorized that the National Flag should be flown at half-mast in all public buildings, facilities and official residences with effect from Monday 24 to Wednesday 26 May, 2021.”
“This approval is to honour the memory and services of the Late Chief of Army Staff, Lt General Ibrahim Attahiru, ten senior military and service members who lost their lives in the plane crash on Friday 21 May, 2021,” the statement read.
