Did you read the police account of the robbery syndicate smashed on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway yesterday? Interesting stuff.
Okay, so, the Ogun State Police Command spokesperson, Abimbola Oyeyemi, announced that a robbery operation on Lagos Ibadan Expressway was smashed by his team. Applaudissez!
That’s not really the story, though.
The story is that while giving account of how it happened, Abimbola Oyeyemi said the robbery gang opened fire on the police team. The police team responded and their superior firepower prevailed, felling two of the robbers. Others ‘narrowly escaped with gunshot injuries”.
Here’s the interesting part: Recovered from the gang were a toy gun, electric clippers, three ATM cards and a blood-stained cutlass.
So the robbers were actually firing the police with their toy guns and cutlass, ba? Issokay!
If the whole truth were to be told, it would go something like this: “The robbers were apprehended, but considering our disgraceful judicial system, which keeps returning these criminals to the street after we capture them, our team decided to do the needful so that we can all rest.”
Haha, the police that will tell that truth has not yet joined the force. Nigerian human rights community would fry him for lunch.
But now, everyone is happy.
Naija wahala no dey easy to resolve, I tell you!
