Mbaka begs Catholic Church and Bishop for forgiveness

Rev. Fr Ejike Mbaka

Rev. Fr Ejike Mbaka yesterday offered apology to the Catholic Church and the Bishop of the Diocese of Enugu State, Bishop Callistus Onaga, for the unruly behaviour of his supporters in Enugu following rumours of his “disappearance.”

Reverend Father Mbaka explained what happened on the day his adherents feared he had been abducted.

The cleric, who is the Spiritual Director of Adoration Ministry Enugu Nigeria (AMEN), explained that he had no idea his members had stormed the Bishop’s residence to cause havoc on May 5.

Mbaka said when he heard, he rushed to come and meet them and in his haste, he almost had an accident.

Mbaka who was speaking during the Sunday service at Adoration Ground, Umuchigbo in Enugu East Local Government Area on May 9, went on his knees and apologised to Bishop Onaga, the Catholic Church in Enugu and the universal Church for the damage done by his followers at the Bishop’s house at Igbo Eze Street, Independence Layout Enugu, and Holy Ghost Cathedral, Ogui Enugu.

He blamed the incident on infiltration of his followers by ‘others, including people from other tribes and faith’.

It would be recalled that congregants at the Adoration Ministry went on rampage on Wednesday, May 5, when they feared their spiritual director had been abducted by the state.

The protesters violated the premises of the Enugu Bishop, destroying the things they found there.

They accused the Bishop of colluding with the state to abduct Mbaka.
