An All Progressive Congress chairmanship aspirant in the Ijede area of Ikorodu, Lagos State, Oluwatosin Onamade, narrowly escaped death over the weekend when gunmen invaded his office and shot dead his staff, named Ifeanyi Godfrey.

Oluwatosin and his workers, including his brother, Oluwafemi, were said to be working at the office when the gunmen suddenly stormed the premises and started shooting.

Godfrey, 54, was gunned down; Oluwafemi was reportedly beaten unconscious, while others sustained bullet wounds in the attack. The wounded were taken to the Ijede General Hospital for treatment.

Narrating his ordeal, Oluwatosin said, “I am a chairmanship aspirant and I was in the office when the hoodlums came with guns and cutlasses and vandalised my property at my office, Western Funeral Home Limited, and killed one of my domestic workers, Ifeanyi Godfrey. He was shot in the head. The hoodlums were about 35 and also beat my brother to a state of unconsciousness. So, we rushed him to the Ijede General Hospital.”

Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, confirmed the incident.

He said, “We had a case like that and the Divisional Police Officer went to the place and we have taken the corpse to the mortuary for autopsy.

“The Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, has ordered that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation.”
