After spending two nights in detention, former Governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha, has been released by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) .
Okorocha, who was released on Thursday evening, reportedly went straight to his Maitama residence in Abuja.
EFCC invited Okorocha on Tuesday for questioning and grilled him for two days over some financial transactions running into billions of Naira.
The incumbent governor, Hope Uzodinma, has been vocal in accusing Okorocha, who governed Imo between 2011 and 2019, of embezzlement and misappropriation of state funds.
In February, the lawmaker accused Uzodinma of unleashing the EFCC and the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) on him.
Okorocha refuted corruption allegations, saying the state government had not been able to prove corruption allegations against him and his family in court.
