Abductors of an Ibadan-based Point of Sale operator, Abiodun Obafaye, have reached out to his family demanding for N5 million before they can release him.
The victim was allegedly abducted around Iwo Road on Tuesday, in the Oyo State capital.
Sources said the victim was abducted under the bridge at Iwo Road by gunmen about 4.30 p.m while he was coming from a bank where he went to withdraw money for his Point of Sale (PoS) business.
The hoodlums were believed to be operating in a commercial vehicle, which the victim might have haplessly boarded.
The police said the case was reported to the Divisional Police Officer at Akobo Division on Thursday, about 12.30 p.m by the victim’s wife, Mrs Temitayo Obafaye.
She had initially reported the case at the Agodi Division.
She told the police that she had received calls from the kidnappers through her husband’s phone. They demanded that the ransom of N5 million be paid into the victim’s personal account.
The victim reportedly had his PoS machine with him at the time he was abducted.
Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Adewale Osifeso, said the case was already being investigated, and that operatives were on the trail of the abductors.
