Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has promised to give Arepo community a Primary Healthcare Centre (PHC), within the next three months.
Abiodun made the promise during his inspection visit to the ongoing reconstruction of the Journalists Estate Road, Arepo.
The Governor was responding to the request of the Chairperson of Journalists’ Estate Phase 1, Deaconess Olufunke Fadugba to assuage the pains of Arepo residents who have to either go to Lagos or Ibafo for medical attention.
Fadugba, in her address lauded the governor for taking the decision to reconstruct the Journalists Road, which for eight years had a prominent Ogun State Government’s signpost announcing its impending reconstruction, but which never materialised.
Fadugba also appealed to the governor to use his fatherly disposition to ensure that all the journalists whose buildings would be affected are adequately compensated.
Governor Abiodun assured that the State Executive Council had at its weekly meeting discussed the issue of compensation and construction of a healthcare centre by the Journalists Estate Gate.
According to the Governor, “the issue of compensation has been built into the contract.”
Chairman, Arepo Area Community Development Committee, Ganiyu Kazeem, also appealed to the state government to consider the security and safety of the Long Bridge.
Speaking with Journalists, Kazeem noted, “All the communities around the LongBridge from Warewa to Magboro, 10 in all, contribute over N300,000 monthly to safeguard the Longbridge; this is huge yet, it is not sufficient as Longbridge would require government attention to deploy Amotekun men because of incessant robbery and kidnappings”, says Kazeem.
Work has commenced in earnest on the Journalists Road as some shops and other structures on both sides of the road were demolished some days ago to make way for the road.
Drainage digging and placement of concrete slabs have also commenced on a portion of the busy road.
