Friday, Saturday and early hours of Sunday were hellish for people travelling between Lagos and Ibadan as a gridlock afflicted the Guru Maharaj Ji part of the expressway.
The situation left many motorists and commuters stranded, as passengers were seen trekking long distance to get to their destinations.
At its peak on Saturday, there was no movement on either side of the expressway as impatient drivers blocked the path of oncoming vehicles.
A motorist, Toba Ogundele, said it was so bad he had take Idi Ayunre to burst out just before Guru Maharaj Ji camp.
He expressed gratitude to God that bad boys and bandits did not take advantage of the situation especially as some motorists struggled with the gridlock till late into the night.
Some road users attributed the traffic snarl to a broken down trailer a few kilometres to Ibadan.
However, others cited the roadwork being done in the area, which has led to the Ibadan-bound traffic being diverted into the opposite lane.
FRSC Sector Commander in the state, Mrs Uche Chukwurah, blamed it all on impatience and lane indiscipline on the part of motorists.
She urged motorists to be patient and give due consideration to other road users.
