COVID-19: Norway suspends use of AstraZeneca vaccine over fears of blood clot

Norway health authorities has suspended the use of AstraZeneca’s COVID-19 vaccine.

The Director of Infection Prevention and Control at the National Institute of Health, Geir Bukholm announced to newsmen that the country made the decision to pause the AstraZeneca vaccination as a precautionary measure following fears of a link to blood clots.

“There have been reports about the negative effects of the vaccine.

“However, we are waiting for more information to see if there is a link between the vaccine and this blood clot case,” he said.

Austria had also halted administration of a batch of AstraZeneca’s coronavirus jabs as a precaution following one person’s death and the illness of another after the shots.

According to the Federal Office for Safety in Health Care (BASG), a 49-year-old woman died due to severe coagulation disorders, while another 35-year-old woman developed a pulmonary embolism.
