No fewer than seven persons were on Tuesday confirmed killed in a renewed communal war between Ezza- Effium and Effium in Ebonyi State.
It was a resurgence of a bitter feud between Ezza-Effium and Effium people in which over a hundred lives have been lost and millions of property destroyed since January.
The governor of the state, David Umahi recently summoned and arrested key figures in the communities to achieve peace, but this is to no avail as hostilities broke out again.
The state Commissioner for Internal Security, boarder peace and conflict resolution, Mr. Stanley Okoro Emegha said the government would take a decisive action against those fomenting trouble in the state.
He said the number of casualties might have been inflated, but promised that the state government would get to the root of the matter, adding that police were already investigating.
The Commissioner of Police, Ebonyi State Command, CP. Aliyu Garba said only one person was actually killed in the renewed hostilities.
He said the police had understood how the two communities carried out their hostilities and would stop the crisis.
