Governor Abubakar Sani Bello of Niger State on Sunday night received some 53 persons abducted by bandits.
The abductees were received by the governor, his cabinet and journalists at the main hall of the Government House, Minna.
The governor expressed gratitude to God for protecting the abductees and giving them the grace to reunite with their relatives.
He said he and his team went through one week of dialogue, consultation, hard work and sleepless nights in order to secure the release of the kidnapped persons.
“We still have the students of Science Secondary School, Kagara in the hands of the captives” , he however added, promising that his team would everything within their power to secure their release as well.
He also expressed gratitude to everyone who had supported the state in its efforts to secure the release of the 53 persons.
He said the released abductees would be handed over to their relatives as soon as medical examination and therapy had been concluded on them.
