COVID-19 claims Ex-Super Eagles defender, Shofoluwe at 53
Former Super Eagles defender, Yisa Shofoluwe is dead.
The legendary footballer died Tuesday night at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital from Covid-19 complications, according to sources.
The Sun reports that Shofoluwe was diagnosed of COVID-19 as against the brain disease being speculated in the media.
As a footballer, Shofoluwe played 40 matches and scored one goal for Nigeria.
He was a member of Nigerian the Seoul ‘84 Olympics and also featured at 84 and 88 AFCON.
Shofoluwe gained prominence playing for Abiola Babes of Abeokuta before going to Belgium for a professional football career.
He was an assistant coach at Gateway Football Club of Abeokuta, and worked with Alphonsus Dike as assistant coach for the Golden Eaglets.
