Fish out criminals from your midst- Ogun police tell Yewa Fulani community

Edward Ajogun, Commissioner of Police, Ogun State

The Ogun State Police Command has called on the Fulani community to fish out any criminal element coming into the state under the guise of cattle herding.

The command also condemned attacks on herdsmen’s settlements and communities in Yewa and other parts of the state in the last three days.

The command’s public relations officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, said the constitution allowed every Nigerian to live and work in any part of the country provided they were law-abiding.

He also charged herdsmen to avoid destruction of farmlands, an act that has created much friction between the herders and their host communities.

He said stakeholders at a meeting held at the palace of Alaye of Ayetoro on Thursday condemned the wanton destruction of farmlands by cattle, kidnapping and raping of women by suspected herders, as well as reprisal attacks on Fulani settlements by host communities.

According to him, the Command has arrested some suspects in connection with the recent incidents and would make example of them to serve as deterrent to others while the sponsors of the hoodlums will also be fished out to face the law.
