Thai couple Ekkachai and Laksana Tiranarat, who made history with the longest kiss lasting 58 hours, 35 minutes, and 58 seconds, have revealed that they are no longer together.
Speaking on the BBC Sounds podcast, Witness History, Ekkachai reflected on their record-breaking moment and the end of their marriage.
“I am very proud. It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
We spent a long time together, and I’m trying to remember the good memories,” he shared.
The couple first gained recognition in 2011 when they kissed for 46 hours and 24 minutes, surpassing the previous 32-hour record. Initially hesitant to participate, they were persuaded by the prize money and a diamond ring.
In 2013, after briefly losing their title to another couple, they reclaimed their record with an incredible 58-hour-long kiss, enduring exhaustion and extreme rules—such as staying awake, standing at all times, and even kissing while using the restroom.
Despite their triumph, Guinness World Records discontinued the longest kiss category due to safety concerns, making Ekkachai and Laksana the permanent holders of the title.
Though their relationship has now ended, Ekkachai remains proud of their achievement, describing their Guinness title as their personal “Roman Empire.”
Their split marks the end of a love story that made history, leaving behind a record that no couple may ever break again.
