Popular stand-up comedian Otaghware Onodjayeke, known as IGoSave on stage, has urged authorities to investigate telecommunication companies in Nigeria, alleging that they are overcharging citizens for unreliable internet services.

His comments come amid recent tariff hikes by major internet providers in the country.

Currently in the United Kingdom, IGoSave compared internet services in both countries, highlighting that data lasts significantly longer and is more reliable in the UK than in Nigeria.

In a video message shared on social media, he expressed his frustration, saying:

“This is the third time I’ve gone to my service provider in the UK to top up, and they turned me back because I still have data. I bought just 20GB three weeks ago, and it’s still working—fast and reliable.

But in Nigeria, 50GB barely lasts three days! What’s the reason?”

The comedian urged the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), and the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) to launch an investigation into why Nigerian telecom providers charge exorbitant rates for poor-quality service.

He further accused them of exploiting Nigerians, stating:

“There’s no difference between these telecom providers and internet fraudsters. How can they charge so much for data that disappears so quickly? How much is Nigeria’s minimum wage?”

Many Nigerians have echoed similar frustrations over high data costs and unreliable service, increasing pressure on telecom regulators to intervene.
