A teenager from Cincinnati, Ohio, faces a murder charge after allegedly k!lling his stepfather, who had reportedly assaulted his mother.
Ronez Joyce, 15, reportedly shot 30-year-old Levonte Hyde approximately 12 times at their home.
Police said the teen’s mother had filed a report that Hyde punched her multiple times in the face while they were driving home from the store.
Quoting court documents, FOX19 reported that Joyce’s mother had “visible injuries to her face.”
“[The couple were driving to the victim’s house from the store when Mr. Hyde called (the) victim a (vulgar name). A verbal argument ensued, Mr. Hyde then began to hit (the) victim in the face several times with a closed fist while driving.”
When they got home some minutes later, the son took a good look at his mother and was enraged at his stepfather for the injuries he inflicted on the boy’s mother.
The son reportedly went to the safe to obtain a gun and shot the abusive stepfather at least 12 times.
Policemen were called and they arrived at the house around 12:30 a.m. They found Hyde suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
He was rushed to the University of Cincinnati Medical Centre but was later pronounced dead.
Police subsequently placed Joyce under custody. He denied the charges during his court appearance on Friday and will remain in custody until his next court hearing on March 3.
According to court records, Hyde and Joyce’s mother share two children together.
