An Eti-Osa Chief Magistrate’s Court in Lagos has ordered the remand of 23-year-old salesgirl, Nifemi Friday, at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre.

She faces charges of stealing goods valued at ₦5,200,000 and defaming a businessman and his wife by labelling them as “ritualists.”

Presiding Magistrate Mrs T. F. Oyaniyi issued the remand order following Friday’s plea of not guilty to the charges.

The defendant is accused of committing the offences on December 23, 2024, at Obas Mall in Okun Ajah, Eti-Osa Local Government Area.

According to Inspector Adeleye Ganiu of the Ogombo Police Division, Friday allegedly stole goods from the mall and disseminated voice notes via social media, accusing Mr. Lateef Lawal and his wife of being ritualists.

These actions are purported to contravene Sections 287 and 168(d) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State 2015.

The court granted Friday bail in the sum of ₦500,000, with two responsible sureties in like amount.

She will remain in custody until her bail conditions are met.
