The Federal Government, through the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, has released detailed operational guidelines for the National Emergency Relief and Stabilisation Intervention (NERSI), explaining how selected Nigerians can access and withdraw their ₦50,000 relief grant.
Designed to cushion the effect of rising living costs, the non-repayable grant is being disbursed across all six geopolitical zones using data pulled strictly from the National Social Register and verified national identity databases.
Key highlights of the disbursement scheme
No application required: Officials reiterated that individuals cannot apply or pay to be added to the beneficiary list.
No smartphone necessary: Beneficiaries do not need internet access or smartphones. A basic phone using approved USSD codes is sufficient to activate mobile wallets and collect cash via Point of Sale (POS) agents or direct bank transfers.
No deductions: The full ₦50,000 is credited directly to the recipient’s wallet, with zero official administrative fees deducted.
Approved payment providers & USSD codes
Selected citizens will receive official SMS notifications containing specific USSD prompt codes from five authorised financial partners:
ALAT (Wema Bank): *945*23# (Helpline: 0803 900 3700)
MoMo PSB: *671*0# (Helpline: 671 / 0803 106 7100)
NairaGram: *726*00# (Helpline: 0201 330 0880)
OPay: *955*20# (Helpline: 0700 888 8328)
Moniepoint: *557*327#
Anti-fraud warning
The Federal Government warned beneficiaries to remain vigilant against scammers. Official text messages will never contain web links, nor will agents ever request personal identification numbers (PINs), One-Time Passwords (OTPs), or Bank Verification Numbers (BVN). Anyone asking for money to “expedite” or “guarantee” payment is a fraudster.
