Popular Nigerian broadcaster and Islamic scholar, Alhaja Kafilat Rufai—famously known as Alhaja Kaola—has made allegations regarding her former marriage, claiming her ex-husband demanded regular monetary payments before agreeing to be intimate with her.

Speaking during a recent broadcast interview, the Fresh FM radio presenter recounted the traumatic ordeal she allegedly endured with her former husband, Sharafdeen, with whom she shares children before their divorce.

Allegations of financial demands and paternity denial

Kaola disclosed that her marital intimacy operated on a transactional basis, asserting that her ex-husband would refuse marital rights until financial transactions were confirmed.

“Before my husband agrees to sleep with me, I must pay him money,” she stated, adding that the payments were made regularly on a weekly basis through bank transfers, cheques, and account officers rather than physical cash.

She described the arrangement as feeling “like someone buying a man”.

The broadcaster further recounted the emotional distress of having her ex-husband deny the paternity of one of their children during their marriage disputes.

Leaked intimate recording and public aftermath

Kaola also alleged that her former partner recorded an intimate moment between them and subsequently released the video online following a domestic dispute.

She noted that the full context and circumstances behind the leaked footage were never completely understood by the public.

Reflecting on the situation, the media personality described the episode as one of the most painful seasons of her life, maintaining that despite the trauma, her life remains firmly guided by faith and divine destiny.
