Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication and New Media to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, has urgently called on the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Nigeria Police Force to investigate a viral video depicting some young men chanting that they need guns to kill Christians in Enugu and Plateau States
The circulating footage shows uniformed youths during a drill, identified as members of the First Aid Group (F.A.G.) of Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’ah Wa Iqamatis Sunnah (JIBWIS), commonly known as the Izala movement.
Inciting chants demanding AK-47 rifles
In a public alert shared via his social media handles, Olayinka provided an English translation of the Hausa language chants led by the group’s drill instructor, highlighting explicit demands for weapons to attack churchgoers.
According to the translation cited by Olayinka, the drill leader calls for firearms to target Christian worshippers on Sundays:
“He should be given AK47
He would then go to Enugu
The land of the infidels
On Sunday when they are worshipping and clapping
He would then open fire
Rudu dududup (sound of gun)
So that he can kill the infidels
He asked to be given AK47 again
So that he can go to Jos
And kill more infidels”
Security agencies urged to intervene immediately
Expressing grave concern over the potential for religious conflict, Olayinka called on law enforcement authorities to establish the identity of the drill leader and ascertain the date and location where the video was recorded.
He stressed that prompt investigation and official intervention by the DSS and the Police Force are essential to prevent breaches of public order, reassure vulnerable communities in Jos and Enugu, and maintain national stability.
As of press time, neither the Nigeria Police Force nor the DSS has released an official statement regarding the video or Olayinka’s petition.
