Rapper Ace Nh asks judge for death sentence in pregnant girlfriend’s murder
Tells lawyers to stand down

Florida rapper Billy Bennett Adams III, widely known by his stage name Ace Nh, has formally requested a judge to sentence him to death for the 2023 murder of his pregnant girlfriend, Alana Sims.
In a handwritten letter dated October 12, 2026, the 25-year-old artist instructed Hillsborough County Judge Mark R. Wolfe that he wants his defence attorneys to respect his wishes and decline to challenge the jury’s sentencing recommendation.
“I don’t have an issue with capital punishment and I have asked my lawyers to respect my wishes when we go to court,” Adams wrote.
Background of the Case
Prosecutors revealed that Ace NH, orchestrated the fatal shooting of 22-year-old Alana Sims out of a desire to sever ties with her.
Sims, who was five months pregnant at the time, was lured to her death under the guise of celebrating Adams’s acquittal in a completely separate double-murder trial just three days prior.
Investigators later determined that Adams wanted to eliminate Sims from his life to pursue a relationship with another woman, erroneously believing he was the father of her unborn child—a claim later disproven by DNA testing.
The calculated ambush took place on January 30, 2023, in a secluded neighborhood in New Tampa. Authorities stated that Adams brought Sims to the remote location, stood roughly three feet behind her, and shot her in the back of the head.
Her body was left on the asphalt next to her SUV, where her 1-year-old son was later discovered alive and uninjured, asleep in his car seat just inches from the tragedy.
Adams initially offered conflicting stories to detectives, including an aborted claim of self-defence, before a jury ultimately convicted him of first-degree murder.
Legal proceedings and jury recommendation
During the penalty phase of the trial, a Florida jury voted 8–4 in favor of capital punishment under the state’s legal framework.
Although Adams’s defense team had previously contested the application of Florida’s revised capital sentencing laws, the rapper’s recent direct correspondence with the court signals a stark shift, asking the judge to uphold and follow the jury’s death sentence recommendation directly.
