Popular Nigerian comedian and actor Samuel Animashaun Perry, professionally known as Broda Shaggi, has opened up about surviving a stray bullet incident while filming.
Speaking in a video published on his YouTube channel, the entertainer disclosed that the incident occurred in March 2026 while he was on location near the Sango-Ota Bridge in Ogun State.
Emergency treatment and medical care
Recounting the moment he was hit, Broda Shaggi explained that a sudden loud explosion disoriented him while inside a vehicle.
“All of a sudden, all I heard was a loud bang. Everywhere was silent. But I could still see people moving outside, people talking, but I couldn’t hear what they were saying,” he recalled. He noted that after touching his hip, he discovered blood and realised he had been struck by a stray bullet.
Following the incident, he was rushed to a nearby hospital where medical personnel administered immediate first aid.
Due to a lack of specialised equipment, the facility transferred him to a second hospital, where he was admitted into the emergency unit for further treatment.
Impact on career and mental recovery
The skit maker admitted that the prolonged recovery period severely impacted his mental well-being and created intense fear over his professional future.
He explained that being unable to act, dance, or sing made him feel helpless, raising concerns that his long absence from public view might cause fans to forget him.
“I couldn’t imagine myself not being able to drop six skits in a month,” he stated, adding that while watching content created by colleagues brought laughter, it also brought tears due to the uncertainty of his return.
To navigate the recovery phase, Broda Shaggi returned to writing scripts and developing a new YouTube series, emphasising that his faith helped him stay hopeful throughout the ordeal.
