A graphic video circulating on social media has shown the gruesome murder of a man identified as Taiwo Saheed by suspected cultists in the Atan area of Ogun State.

According to eyewitnesses and footage reviewed by investigators, the fatal attack took place on Thursday, October 15, 2026, in the Igbo Olomi community of Atan-Ota.

The killing is strongly suspected to be a reprisal execution orchestrated by members of the outlawed Eiye Confraternity.

Gruesome details emerge from viral footage

The circulating video depicts the victim, Taiwo Saheed, lying lifeless in a pool of blood. One of the assailants is seen repeatedly striking the body with a machete before completely severing the head.

Other members of the gang can be heard in the background hailing and cheering as the violent assault unfolds.

Police launch manhunt for perpetrators

Confirming the incident, the Ogun State Police Command spokesperson, Babaseyi Oluseyi, stated that tactical teams had intensified operations to track down and arrest those responsible.

“The Ogun State Police Command is intensifying investigations into the murder of Taiwo Saheed in Igbo Olomi, Atan-Ota, on 15 October 2026,” Oluseyi said. “Proactive efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend the perpetrators, unravel the circumstances of the incident, and ensure justice is served.”

The Atan axis has experienced bouts of cult-related violence in recent times. Earlier in April, local security operatives arrested four suspected cultists—identified as Samson John, Olufowora Michael, Odeh Samuel Ejeh, and Olajide Jeremiah—following armed robberies and unlawful possession of firearms in the district.
