Billionaire Razaq Okoya’s son, Fatai, accuses Sade of blocking him from seeing his father

Fatai Okoya, the 66-year-old eldest son of billionaire industrialist and founder of Eleganza Group, Chief Razaq Okoya, has opened up about a decades-long estrangement from his father, appealing publicly for reconciliation.
During a recent TikTok Live session hosted by Yeyekudi, Fatai detailed his decades-long struggle to reconnect with his father, attributing the prolonged separation to strained family dynamics and alleged interference from his father’s youngest wife, Shade Okoya.
Blocked from seeing father at 86th birthday celebration
Fatai recounted a painful experience during Chief Razaq Okoya’s 86th birthday celebration on January 12, 2026. Although he attended the event and received a VIP reception upon arrival, he alleged that he was prevented from approaching his father.
“I was turned back by Alhaja Shade Okoya,” Fatai stated, explaining that he had only wanted to greet his father. According to him, although his father caught sight of him, the patriarch did not utter a word, saying, “My father did not have anything to say.”
Roots of the decades-long rift
Reflecting on what triggered the friction between them, Fatai explained that the fallout began when he was younger and reckless, having taken a small sum of money without authorization.
He also pointed to his youthful decision to marry a woman his father strongly disapproved of as another major contributing factor to the widening gap.
Fatai noted that his late grandmother had frequently expressed distress over the lingering hostility between father and son, once challenging Chief Okoya with the question, “What are you going to do to your brother and sister when I am gone?”
During the live broadcast, an uncle of Fatai—who is Chief Razaq Okoya’s brother—also joined the session and criticized the barriers preventing the eldest son from accessing his father.
Plea for reconciliation and intervention
Reiterating his remorse, Fatai tendered a fresh public apology and appealed for an opportunity to mend fences, fondly recalling how close his relationship with his father was during his early childhood.
In response to the emotional appeal, the session host, Yeyekudi, called on veteran billionaire businessman and close associate of the Okoya family, Chief Kensington Adebutu (Baba Ijebu), to intervene and help broker a lasting peace between father and son.
