Eyewitness recounts deadly attack at Oja-Ale salon
According to the police spokesperson, the incident occurred on the evening of October 3, 2026, at a barbing salon situated in the Oja-Ale area of Ikire.
A surviving victim reported the incident to the Divisional Police Headquarters in Ikire, explaining that he and the deceased were at the salon around 6:00 PM when an armed gang stormed the premises.
The gang, allegedly led by Nurudeen Ademakinwa, launched a sudden assault with dangerous weapons. While the complainant managed to escape the scene, Ajayi was repeatedly macheted and succumbed to severe injuries.
Following intelligence-led operations, police operatives tracked down and arrested the principal suspect alongside his two accomplices.
Principal suspect linked to previous violent attacks and threats
Further police disclosures revealed that the primary suspect, Nurudeen Ademakinwa, had allegedly been involved in previous violent criminal activities within the state.
“The same Nurudeen Ademakinwa was also alleged to have sent threat voice messages to some residents of Wasimi, warning them to leave the town or face consequences,” DSP Ojelabi stated.
Police records further link Ademakinwa to an August 24, 2026 assault on officers from the Ikire Division, during which two passersby tragically lost their lives.
The Osun State Police Command confirmed that all three suspects will be formally charged in a court of competent jurisdiction as soon as preliminary investigations are finalised.
