A 28-year-old Nigerian national, Adebayo Maoli, has been taken into custody by Canadian authorities and charged following multiple reports of indecent exposure and sexual assault on the Toronto transit network.

According to a public statement released by the Toronto Police Service (TPS), Maoli was arrested after being linked to two separate incidents targeting female passengers aboard trains and around subway stations.

Transit incidents detailed by Toronto police

Police investigators reported that the first reported incident occurred on September 1, 2026, when Maoli allegedly exposed himself to two female commuters riding a southbound Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) train near King Station.

The victims immediately activated the emergency security alarm on the train, prompting the suspect to flee the scene before police arrived.

A second incident was reported on October 3, 2026, at approximately 12:10 a.m. at College Station.

Investigators stated that Maoli followed a woman off a subway train onto an escalator, where he allegedly exposed himself again. The woman confronted him, causing him to flee the transit station.

Legal charges and ongoing investigation

Following his arrest, police charged Maoli with two counts of an indecent act and one count of sexual assault.

Key details regarding the legal proceedings and police investigation include:

Bail hearing: Maoli was scheduled to appear before the Toronto Regional Bail Centre on October 9, 2026.

Potential additional victims: Due to the nature and location of the offenses, investigators suspect there may be other unreported incidents and are appealing to the public for additional information.

Public appeal: The Toronto Police Service released details of the case to encourage anyone with relevant information or similar experiences to contact law enforcement.
