A 50-year-old New York man, Damon Foy, has entered a guilty plea to second-degree murder following the gruesome death and dismemberment of his ex-girlfriend, Alberta Dale, 44, who had recently ended their relationship.

The Ulster County District Attorney’s Office confirmed the plea agreement, which resolves a high-profile domestic homicide case that began in early spring 2024.

Missing person probe leads to apartment discovery

The investigation was launched on April 1, 2024, after Alberta Dale’s family members in Pennsylvania grew concerned over her sudden loss of communication and requested a welfare check from the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies initially visited Foy’s apartment in Kerhonkson, New York, where they located the victim’s vehicle parked outside.

The following day, a member of the public discovered Dale’s mobile phone discarded along a nearby road and turned it in to local authorities, deepening suspicions of foul play and prompting detectives to return to Foy’s residence for further questioning.

Upon their arrival, Foy admitted his involvement directly to officers, whispering, “She’s in there. I killed her,” according to official court filings cited by law enforcement sources.

Search warrant uncovers remains and evidence

Investigators secured an immediate search warrant for Foy’s residence. During the search, officers located a blood-stained suitcase inside a closet containing a portion of the victim’s dismembered remains, alongside a flower Foy had placed inside.

Interrogation records revealed that Foy blamed the victim for ending their relationship and attempting to evict him from his residence.

Court documents further established that Foy had a documented history of domestic violence against Dale.

Prior to her death, the victim had expressed fear for her safety, warning relatives and authorities that Foy posed a severe threat to her life.

Plea deal and upcoming sentencing

Under the terms of the negotiated plea deal with the Ulster County District Attorney’s Office, Foy faces an expected prison sentence of 23 years to life behind bars.

Official sentencing proceedings are scheduled to take place in the Ulster County Court.
