American actor Tom Welling has gone viral across social media after inadvertently sharing a revealing photo on his official Instagram account.
The incident occurred while the actor was attempting to show fans a scenic view of the New York City skyline from his hotel room.
Accidental reflection sparks online attention
The 49-year-old actor, best known for his portrayals of Clark Kent in the hit television series Smallville, uploaded the photograph to his Instagram Stories ahead of an appearance at New York Comic Con.
Welling captioned the original image “Hello NYCC” to signal his arrival for the fan event.
However, the reflection in the glass window pane captured the undressed actor taking the photograph inside his hotel room.
The post remained visible for several hours before being removed, though screenshots quickly spread across social media platforms.
Actor and Smallville co-stars make light of the incident
Rather than avoiding the situation, Welling took the social media blunder in stride. Leaving a comment under a viral post highlighting the incident, the actor humorously wrote, “Came for the sights,” which quickly garnered tens of thousands of likes from fans.
His Smallville co-star Michael Rosenbaum, who played Lex Luthor, joined in on the teasing by posting a parody photo on Instagram.
Rosenbaum posed in front of a hotel window holding a sign reading “perverts” over his lower body with the caption, “Just looking after my boy”. Welling reshared the parody to his own stories, setting the post to the song “Empire State of Mind”.
The former co-stars were in New York City to participate in a special cast reunion panel at New York Comic Con celebrating the upcoming 25th anniversary of Smallville alongside fellow cast members Kristin Kreuk and Erica Durance.
