US Congresswoman Lauren Boebert is facing a formal ethics complaint alleging that she engaged in inappropriate sexual relationships with three staff members and paid one employee $200,000 to maintain silence.
The complaint was filed on September 17, 2026, by investigative journalist David Wheeler. It names former district director Clarice Navarro, district chief of staff Raven Finegan, and former chief of staff Jeffrey Small as the staffers allegedly involved with the Colorado Republican representative.
Allegations detail campaign funds and hush money claims
According to the filed complaint, Boebert’s alleged relationship with Navarro began in 2021 and lasted until January 2025.

The filing alleges that encounters took place at the district congressional office, inside a vehicle, and in hotel rooms financed by campaign funds.
The complaint asserts that Boebert paid Navarro $200,000 in March 2025 after Navarro threatened to lodge a formal ethics complaint.
Wheeler claims to possess text messages, banking records, and recorded conversations, though significant portions of his cited evidence rely on anonymous sources.
Boebert and former staff forcefully deny claims
Congresswoman Boebert and her primary accuser have both issued strong public statements rejecting the allegations in their entirety.
“I’m not a lesbian or bisexual, and I have never, ever been in any inappropriate relationship, nor have I ever been sexually involved with any staff,” Boebert stated.
Spokespersons for Boebert characterised the complaint as a politically motivated stunt engineered to manipulate the House ethics process, smear her reputation, and create media headlines.
Navarro also issued a firm denial, stating, “These allegations regarding me are entirely false, defamatory, and beyond ridiculous. There is absolutely no truth to any part of this claim.”
The House Committee on Ethics has not yet announced whether it will initiate a formal review based on the filing.
